John Cusak In My Eyes

John Cusack wrote, produced and stars in the new indie movie, War Inc. He and his sister, Joan Cusack, are doing press for it and explaining to us that it’s a satire. It’s a joke folks! See, war can be funny too. Hmmm…doesn’t bode well.

Cutie-pie Cusack is too earnest for his own good. I’ll see the movie but I fear it’s full of obvious observations. Did you know that governments BENEFIT from war? Ugh….we’ve heard this before. I prefer the Thank You for Smoking movie school of preaching. It asks to feel for the bad guy.

But then again maybe Lloyd Dobler will hold over his head one of life’s great truths and we’ll all want to take an emotional role in the hay with him like it’s 1989 all over again. I hope so but, I doubt it. I’ll watch part of anything once –except ConAir.

Just like Stephen Colbert reveals that Barack Obama is “ a secret Muslim,” gossipers like to suggest that John Cusack and Jeremy Piven are secret lovers. I guess we just want to watch people couple up and break apart. It’s a tiny example of how the universe expands and contracts like our lungs –in and out, together and apart.

Several years ago my roommate saw John Cusak and George Clooney at a restaurant in L.A. She and her friends acted like they were ignoring them as they posed for secret pictures “with” the two stars. I think I’d rather see a video of that than a hit-you-over-the-head with liberal platitudes film.
